On sacred Activism... Let's Adopt

Wherever I look in the media, in messages that I receive through internet, and in my work in yoga, counseling and breathing therapy I see only anguish and fear about this moment of the earth in which we are. On the other hand, I see and receive wishy washy messages and invitations to join causes and groups that promote and sell eternal happiness, health and youth, with esoteric new age stuff. What a big business the human emotions has become in this time of the earth!. Very few talk about consciousness and the development of a new consciousness on the earth that is the only way to come out of the chaos in which we are now. We are in a moment in which people are more depressed and dependent on medication than before, more fearful about the future, and more lonely and yearning to connect with the other. No wonder the success of facebook, and other networking media that allow people to be connected with new worlds, new realities that create new fantasies, hope, and as well addiction.

This world its not the same as it was six years ago. The change is felt by everyone. The topics of “climate change”...“moving into a new world”... “axial change”...“the melting of the poles”...“species in extinction”... “going organic”... “the collapsing of the economical systems”, are part of the common language nowadays. If it is cold, when supposedly should be warm we just say: “its part of the climate change” without even understanding what we are saying. We are entering a total new world, that we do not know yet what it is about. We have a glimpse just by seeing how the big corporate world that promised security, jobs, and economical growth goes down the drain. However, the biggest crisis that I see its a spiritual crisis, in general what I hear often in my work and outside of it as well is: “I need to find my purpose...”.

Actually, I think that what is in the midst of this chaos is very beautiful, because all the illusion of what the big economies created has to disappear to open the path for an authentic world, where everyone can flourish in its purpose and passion. The answer to the crisis that we are dealing with now in the world is to be an ACTIVIST.

What is to be an Activist? How Activism can fulfill the emptiness that people are feeling nowadays in their lives? To be an activist means to go for your passion. For what you want in your life, and connecting through that desire with other people who shares your interests and work for that idea always with the purpose of creating a better world.

Serving this earth and the well being of humanity. Making of your life your real mission and been an individual in the collective. Having always an attitude of growth, expansion, kindness and openness for sharing, accepting mistakes, correcting them and always looking forward never giving up. When you are moved by your passion, you are in total connection with the sacred and divinity of your being. Nothing can stop you, passion is what moves everything and the rewarding goes beyond material success. It nurtures, and fills your life. It becomes the meaning of your life.

LET'S ADOPT

When I joint facebook three years ago, my purpose was to be in contact with all the people I have not been in touch for a long time since I left my country of origin, and began to live in different places. I was receiving infinite invitations to belong to groups. Since I am not a person who likes to belong to groups I was rejecting everything until I received the invitation to belong to LETS ADOPT, that I accepted due to it promoted animal rescue and as an animal lover I felt compulse to say YES. Today I have no doubt, that it was an excellent decision. This is the only group that I have seen active, responsible, non bureaucratic at all, a group that takes action, a group that can represent were the world is going towards to now: creation of tribes that have common interests, serving for the well being and healing of the world, action in sacredness. What LETS ADOPT does is a life mission.

LETS ADOPT is a networking group based on facebook which purpose is to rescue animals, give them in adoption to the best homes in the world and educate people on animal issues. Founded in Turkey by Viktor Larkhill and his partner Fulya Ulusoy two animal lovers that use facebook as the platform to launch this tribe of animal lovers that day by day is growing globally.

Since its beginning, I have witness their development in rescuing, dealing with social issues and confronting the authorities of the shelters in Turkey. Dealing with the stories that every animal bring with them physically, mentally and emotionally. Every dog and cat that has been rescued is treated with love and respect in their own individuality. LETS ADOPT have spread to different places, has crossed the Turkish borders to have branches in Germany, Canada, USA, France, Japan, Thailand, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Scandinavia and it will continue growing. Just a simple act of kindness to stop animal cruelty: To rescue an animal and give him or her a new high quality life and LOVE is the core of LETS ADOPT. This group is an excellent example of been an activist, connecting people with one purpose, saving the lives animals and creating a better world.

LET'S ADOPT

If you are an animal lover, and feel lost and do not know what to do, join this tribe, be part of LETS ADOPT and start creating the difference. In facebook join LETS ADOPT GLOBAL, when you start receiving the stories and cases of rescued animals shared them due to we need the information to be spread to find homes for the animals. Be a foster home, open your home to foster a dog or a cat while LETS ADOPT finds the adoptive home. So, the animals wont wait in cages of shelters or veterinarian hospitals until they are adopted. Donate to the Simba Fund, that money is used for the re homing, flights of animals adopted out of Turkey, veterinarian health care, and all what the process of bringing back into life the animals mean. Yes, all the animals are brought back into life and dignity. Mainly all the rescues carry with them stories of accidents, amputations, and physical and emotional trauma. Unfortunately, it is very rare, to find a story of a rescue dog or cat in good conditions, but when they are rescued and with the love, commitment and responsibility of LETS ADOPT the transformation of the animals its unbelievable, you can see some of the pictures here in this article.

Andrew Harvey in his book The Hope - A Guide to Sacred Activism uses in the introduction the words of the Buddhist Mystic Shantideva, I feel that through these words we can clearly understand what sacred activism its about: “All the joy the world contains has come through wishing happiness for others. All the misery the world contains has come through wanting pleasure for oneself.”
