The designers who own stores in Lebanon are now sold in cities such as New York, London, Dubai, and Istanbul. The biggest talent of these orientalist designers is that they combine different designs and stones with various elements. It would not be wrong at all to say that these artists ‘synthesize the East and the West’ in their designs.
Nada Le CavalierNada Le Cavalier who has been in the world of design for 30 years, very much likes to use colourful elements in her designs. Particularly famous for her micromosaic works, the artist is also popular for her vintage pearl and wood jewellery. Borrowing antique elements and archaeological concepts in her designs, the designer is envied for her pieces on offer to her customers at her Beirut boutique.
Noor FaresThis young artist who entered the world of design in 2009 with her brand called N.oor- Noor Fares, says her life between Lebanon, Europe and United States is her biggest inspiration. The artist who featured her N.oor collection at locations in London, Los Angeles and Beirut, is preparing to hit the stage in Dubai this year. Celebrities such as Zaha Hadid, Francesco Clemente and Camilla Al Fayed wear here pieces. There are plans to open boutiques bearing her own name in cities around the world. Nadine KansoBorn and bred in Lebanon, now living in Dubai, Nadine Kanso is a very talented artist. Combining the jewellery aspect with photography, Kanso says she loves typography, which is reflected in her designs. She reflects the Arab alphabet called Bil’Arabi to her jewellery in a calligraphic manner is quite well-known.
Joanna DahdahDahdah deserves appreciation for her hand-made jewellery inspired by her country Lebanon. She studied at St Martin College London where she has been living for 5 years. Still attending gemology courses, Catalan Dahdah was awarded Swarovski‘s trend prize in 2009. The artist who is fond of working with stones such as lapis lazuli, onyx, amethyst, coral malachite is quite famous for her unique designs despite her young age.
André MarchaEstablished in Lebanon since 1969, André Marcha has inspired many jewellery houses in the region. Himself inspired by and reflecting the animal and flower figures in nature, Marcha has always been innovative in using different colour stones and shapes.
Selim MouzannarBorn in Lebanon, Mouzannar was brought up in Beirut. Selim whose family has been in the jewellery casting business for three generations learnt the fine details of gemmology during his travels to Paris, New York, Bangkok, Yemen, Cambodia and Indonesia then returned to his country and created a brand bearing his own name, despite his family’s opposition.
