Time to diet before the weather gets really warm!

Summer is fast approaching. This is the time when people think of the extra weight they have been planning to lose for months, even years. The Dukan diet, tried by a member of the British Royal Family has become a big hit…
As we age, we may have a busier life and unfortunately, do not have enough time to exercise no matter how much we want to. If that is the case, then we should know how to pay attention to `what we eat` in classical terms. Most of us would feel happier and healthier loosing between 5-10 kg, so it makes sense to go for the diet programmes on offer.

You must have heard of the Dukan diet named after the famous doctor Pierre Dukan. This regime has been supposedly used by Kate Middleton, the new Royal bride, who married the Wales Prince William. The diet is rich in proteins which can make you lose weight in short period of time. One of Queen Elizabeth`s cousins- Lady Elizabeth Anson is said to have lot more than 10 kilos on Dukan diet, as well as Hollywood celebrities Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Lopez when they wanted to lose the hard to shift baby weight, hence all the attention about this diet. Famous French Doctor Dukan said that he accidentally discovered the diet during the obesity treatment of one of his patients. The doctor who told his patient eat meat for 5 days and drink plenty of water saw that at the end of 5 days his patient lost 4 kilos and then he started a series of experiments about this issue.

The Dukan diet consists of 4 phases. The first stage is about the proteins. For a week to 10 days you should only eat non-fat meat, fish, eggs, skimmed dairy products, soy cheese, tea and coffee. There is absolutely no place for carbs and fatty food throughout this process. Pierre Dukan says that people who really stick to this diet are really motivated at the end of this first phase and get ready for the second phase. The second phase lasts one week in which you add basic vegetables such as cabbage, spinach, asparagus, broccoli and courgette, as well as the proteins you eat in the first phase. Of course, vegetables with carbs such as potatoes or some fatty vegetables are not allowed. The 3rd stage is an important supplement phase in which you continue consuming proteins and vegetables and also add 2 slices of bread and 1 fruit (orange, apple etc.) to your list every day. In this stage you also have a reward such as a slice of cake per week. It is up to you to decide how long this phase will continue. It lasts about 10 days for every kilo you have lost until you reach the second phase. The last phase is valid for the rest of your life. You can eat anything as long as you definitely keep proteins in your life and consume them at least once in a week. Those who do the Dukan diet should also drink at least 6 glasses of water per day, walk for 20 minutes and eat a spoon of oat bran per day.

3 –Day Diet
Even though it is very effective, if the Dukan Diet is hard for you to stick to because you do not have enough time, we offer you an alternative three-day diet:
Day 1.
Breakfast: Tea or coffee; half a grapefruit, 1 table spoonful of peanut butter and 1 slice of toasted bread. You can use sweetener for your coffee or tea and drink grapefruit water instead of the grapefruit.
Lunch: Tuna fish in the size of half a coffee cup, 1 slice of bread, tea or coffee.
Dinner: 80-90 gr non-fat meat, 1 water glassful beans, 1 carrot, 1 apple, 1 cup of vanilla ice cream.

Day 2.
Breakfast: One egg, half banana, 1 toasted slice of bread, tea or coffee.
Lunch: Cottage cheese in the size of a matchbox, 6 crackers. Instead of cottage cheese you can also choose tuna fish in the size of a coffee cup.
Dinner: Two sausages, bunch of broccoli, half carrot, half banana, half cup of vanilla ice cream. You can choose cabbage instead of broccoli.

Day 3.
Breakfast: 1 apple, 30 gr. cheddar cheese, 5 crackers, tea or coffee.
Lunch: 1 boiled egg, 1 slice of toasted bread, tea or coffee (optional).
Dinner: Tuna fish in the size of a coffee cup, 1 carrot, 1 slice of melon, 1 cauliflower in the volume of a water glass, half cup of vanilla ice cream.
Do not forget to drink water throughout the day. If you stick to this 3-day diet strictly, you can lose an average of 4 kilos. However, you should not forget that if you consider continuing this diet scheme, you should consult your physician and get an expert opinion.
