Hotel California Album by the Eagles inspired by her…Loree Rodkin

Loree Rodkin is a very famous designer, her life long friends are Cher and  Elton John as well as other celebrities. When you meet her  she is so down to earth and very charming.Ihave to admit that this is one of my nicest interviews.

You were born in Chicago then move to LA when you were 18 years old. How did you make such big  decision?
I grew up in Chicago and followed my best friend to LA just to hang out with her as we used to when I was 19 years old. When we moved together I found out that we could not get on well with each other at all.Unfortunately we haven not spoke since then .But somehow, she changed my whole life.

You know  so many celebrities. How did you meet them?
I have had so many amazing opportunities.I met so many interesting people.I still have a very interesting and fun life.When I was 19 years old I broke up with my longtime sweetheart. I was at a party in LA for the BeeGees and met a very charming boy.He stayed with me all night long and asked me if I like to go to London with him the next day.I said ok, but I  had to have my own room .He said no problem and took me to London.We had an amazing dinner in a great home with Uri Galler and Robert Stingwood from Saturday Night Fever.Jeffrey asked me if I’d like to go to Paris the next day to meet Salvador Dali.I was only 19 years old and Salvador Dali was just a painter for me. I was so innocent.Dali hosted us for a week then I went to Rome where I met so many interesting people like Fellini.

You have had relationships  with Richard Gere, Bernie Taupin, Don Felder. I heard that Jimi Hendrix proposed to you, but you turned him down. Half of the Hotel California album by the Eagles are about your relationship?
Even though I have dated a few men, I always had long term relations like 5 years,9 years. I never wanted to get married. I like my freedom even though I am totally monogomous.If you are dating a songwriter they write songs about their everyday life and you can’t escape it. He was inspired by our relationship,some of the songs were about our conversations or our fights.Half of the Hotel California album is about our relationship.’Wasted Time’  was our break up song and ‘No Kidding’ was about my next boyfriend…

How do you get your inspirations?
 Architecture always inspires me.A corner of a table,a mosque or a temple. I love what I am doing. My jewellery is a combinationof Gothic and modernity inspired by architectural designs.This is my third career,I have done decoration (which I am still involved), managing, and for the third one I am designing jewllery.I’ve been interested in so many things and I have been so lucky to enjoy all of it. I have always done what I want.

Who wears your jewellery?
So many celebrities like Madonna, Elton John, Cher andMrs Obama wear my creations.Women think my jewellery can change their life and I love it.
