La Confluencia, ArgentinaLa Confluencia in the Andean Valley in 150000 decares of Rio Azul Region under conservation is also an ecological farm where you can go trekking and do adventure sports. La Confluencia is a place founded by LEAF (Land Ethic Action Foundation) which has been giving training on subjects like the proper use of energy sources and organic farming since 1995. Numerous group works and activities supporting and teaching organic farming are performed. In the evenings, songs are sung in front of the fireplace in the penthouse and a cultural exchange atmosphere emerges. The workshop programmes at La Confluencia last for a week in average, on various subjects such as small-scale ecological agriculture, alternative energy use and energy use at minimum level and food preservation. In La Confluencia, people stay in tents and cottages. The workshop calendar starts every year in September and lasts until the end of November. ICPPC - Stryszow, PolandStryszow is located in the south of Poland, though not as close as Polonezköy, it has a nice ecological holiday atmosphere. The presentation by the Polish, is good and they are sensitive to organic farming. In summer 2011, between the dates of 15 - 21 July and 12- 18 August, two 7-day programmes about both working and ecological trainings, ranging from making bread to weaving basket are organized. In the region, ‘basket making’ is very popular. In just one week, you can taste organic dishes, learn how to make butter, and participate in horseback trips to the surrounding villages. By the way, don’t forget to visit Krakow city declared as a world heritage by UNESCO. Belle Vue Farm, EnglandBelle Vue is located in an attractive and mysterious region where there are antiquities belonging to Stonehenge and Avebury. At Belle Vue farm you can learn most of things from A to Z about organic farming. Moreover, when you stick your head out of your tent, a chicken, a duck, a goat, even a quail may greet you and say ‘Good morning’. This ecological farm run by Joe & Izzy Dyke who have four children, 110 acres of land and you can bring your own pets with you. Besides various activities like organic egg production, you can row on the stream, and benefit from different amusements like ‘Vintage tractor drive’ in addition to organic farming and livestock farming. Dedetepe FarmAt this farm, mainly olives are cultivated using traditional methods. People work on a large land of 30 acres. Apart from olives, you can contribute to the cultivation of many plants ranging from tomato to artichoke, from strawberry to basil with organic seeds. The couple, Erkan and Tamahine met at a yoga camp in India. Having spent their first few years together in a caravan and tent, they have hosted their visitors since April 2010, with their two children in Dedetepe. There are also different accommodation alternatives for visitors. 5 log cabins, sleeping three , 4 double Mongolian houses, tents that you bring yourself or are available to rent, a dorm for 10 people where you can lie on beds with bed nets in the open air. Furthermore, wind turbine and solar panels used on the farm for power generation will immediately appeal to enthusiasts. Since all the electrical demand of the farm is supplied with this system, electrical equipments consuming much electricity such as a hair dryer or refrigerator are not used. There is also a day nursery for children. Dedetepe is definitely a splendid holiday alternative. Datça FarmhouseDatça Mesudiye Ovabükü, 250 meters from the sea, is a paradise corner and another address of a holiday alone with nature, suitable for farm conditions and organic farming. From Peking- African ducks to geese, from Chinese chickens to newly hatched ducklings, to chicks and rabbits, it’s a world intermingled with animals. The superb beach of Ovabükü has been selected as the best beach of Turkey by the English newspaper ‘The Guardian’. Yüksel and John Glayn, were engaged with tourism for many years and decided to show how to achieve the self-sufficiency way of life to their visitors. They even give private English lessons for free to those who bring their books. Mrs Yüksel has a great sincerity and attitude. Her door is wide-open to volunteers who want help. People can stay in a 2 person house where they have their own bathroom, refrigerator, oven and television. Guests can cook their own meals with vegetables they pick in the garden by using the kitchen in their house, and benefit from tandoori and oven. Citrus, pomegranate and avocado trees, a rich vegetable garden and grapevines are part of this garden of heaven. Pastoral ValleyPastoral Valley, in a valley surrounded by pine forests, with a brook flowing just beside, giving the opportunity of staying in stone, wood and adobe houses 12 months of the year, is situated on a land of 42 acres. This place is another ecological holiday farm, giving the taste of ‘back to village’ and where organic farming is done. Organic products produced on the farm are presented to guests. If they wish, guests can participate in agricultural work, try weaving a rug, making pottery from clay, carving wood, weaving basket and making some traditional foods like tarhana, erişte, or jam and pickle. In Pastoral Valley, there is also a ‘child workshop’ enabling your child to take the chance of making his own peg top, kite, model airplane. On the most peaceful and quietest corner of the farm, there is a multi-purpose hall intended for yoga and meditation groups under the eucalyptuses. The places you can go swimming while staying in this ecological life farm are Yanıklar village coast and Katrancı Cove 5 or 6 kilometers away, and Çalış Beach, 10 kilometers away. Moreover you are allowed to bring your pets too. If you are one of those who say ‘I definitely want to benefit from Oludeniz’, you can be there after 27 kilometers. Ahmet Kizen, the founder of Pastoral Valley, was born in İstanbul in 1949. After graduating from the department of architecture at ITU in 1974, he left İstanbul and settled in the south in 1980. Imece HouseThe Imece House was first set up as a camp in 2007, turned into a farm and then spontaneously to a learning centre. With its various work camps such as growing olives, producing olive-oil, and as a place where people share all tasks. This natural life school is really sincere, genuine and fit for its purpose. Four camps will be available from July to the first days of August, in 2011. Taking place in tents, on mountains, each camp lasts for 5 days. Different activities like gathering herbs, farming, and making breads/cheese are organized. You can stay voluntarily for at least one week in the Imece House, after sending a brief letter about yourself, your skills and expectations. Alcohol, drugs, carbonated drinks, plastic packages/bottles are not permitted. This organization is free of charge. There is a box where volunteers put their weekly costs in it. This cost is around 10 Turkish Liras per day. Any volunteer going to the bazaar set up in Ayvacık meets his/her needs by taking money from the box. People with any physical disability don't have to put in any money. Nice shopping centers, clean streets, nonstop traffic, much noise and sound... It's up to you!
