Une promenade de Chanel at Harrods

Inspired by the poetic strenghth of Karl Lagerfeld’s recent ready to wear collection, Chanel has transformed the Brompton Road facade of Harrods by redesigning the windows. Each one marries Karl Lagerfeld’s brilliant Automne Winter Collection with light touches of whimsical French fairy tales.

Visitors enter through a symbolic curtain of pearls that Gabrielle Chanel so adored. In the first room you can see amazing Chanel  jewellery. When you walk to the second room it is all about the 2.55 bags. You can learn about the exceptional skills involved in making this bag, with walls lined with leather and digital displays showing each step of creating Chanel 2.55 bags.

In the third room you step back to your childhood. This room is filled with Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld evokes memories of playing with dolls. Then comes the haute couture room, a reconstructıon of Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment at 31 Rue de Cambon.  On show are dresses displayed under glass, manequins and stunning cases used to deliver Haute Couture dresses to clients.

The fourth room is studio 7L, with its gigantic library, suprises anyone who finds themselves amongst the infinite walls of books. The next room is dedicated to the preferred fabric for Chanel Jackets, the tweed room.

The last room is all about Chanel No 5.

This exhibition is opened from September 6th for 3 weeks only. You should definitely see Une Promenade de Chanel at Harrods, before it is too late.
