Francesca Fusco is a very well know dermatologist based in NY, United States.  We talked about some novauty in skin care as well some tips to keep our hair in good health.

What is YAG and destructive treatments? How we can get rid of blemish and brown spots from sun?
YAG laser is a laser used to remove brown spots from face, hand or chest. It works best when used for just a few spots at a time because the recovery is up to 2 weeks of raw, red or crusty skin. Brown spots, commonly called age spots or sun spots are the result of cumulative lifetime sun exposure. There is a newer laser, Fraxel Dual which is very effective at treating large areas covered with brown spots like chest, legs and face of course. It requires about 3 treatments and has a "downtime" of at least 1 week. For those women who do not want a long down time, five treatments with the Fraxel Restore will fade brown spots AND fine lines with only 24 hours of redness!

What is Baby Botox?  What’s the difference with the normal Botox?
"Baby" Botox refers to a smaller amount of Botox than standard. It leaves some movement to the face and looks quite natural.

How important is it to protect yourself from the sun?
Sun Protection is critically important. Aging is due to genetics and sun exposure. We cannot control our genes but we can reduce the photo damage we incur. The use of a broad spectrum UV coverage daily is important in reducing lines, brown spots, thinned skin and laxity!

What is the latest in skin treatments?
The latest and most exciting development in skin treatments is heat based modalities to tighten skin. I have been doing Ulthera, a non invasive, ultrasound treatment to the face which takes one hour and tightens the jaw line, neck, and lifts the face. It is wonderful for women who want to delay surgery. There is no downtime! Exilis is another exciting addition to my office. It is a radio wave frequency heat that melts fat and tightens skin. Some women, despite exercise and dieting, develop what we call "pooches" of extra fat in their abdomen, or arms, or thighs. This non invasive procedure, which takes 40 minutes per area, slims and tightens. It is important to know this is not for large volumes, but smaller areas. It takes about 4-6 treatments, and must be done once a week

How we can keep our scalp healthy?
Increase your intake of essential fatty acids found in oily fish or avocados to improve the general condition of your skin. Avoid an overly warm or dry bedroom as this will zap your skin of moisture. Alternate the use of hot and cold water on your scalp to increase the circulation and prevent dead cells from forming. Try to massage rather than scratch your scalp when you are applying Sunsilk Hair Fall Solution shampoo. Your diet plays an important part in keeping your hair in good condition. Drinking two liters of water daily will help. Having your hair cut regularly will improve its condition. Stress is one of the most common causes for unhealthy scalp often resulting in hair loss, try and pinpoint areas in your life that are causing you anxiety and work on improving them.
